What the Learning Programme does

The Duchess of Cornwall meeting pupils from Knights Templar School © Duncan Soar Photography, 2012 War Memorials Trust works to protect and conserve all war memorials in the UK. We aim to make sure that war memorials remain part of our communities forever

War Memorials Trust strives to do this by building a greater understanding of our war memorial heritage. The resources available on this website is one way we can do this. By educating young people about war memorials; their function, history and significance to communities, we can give young people an understanding of war memorial heritage so they can continue to preserve them in the future.

 For schools

Primary school pupils looking at a war memorial © War Memorials Trust, 2012Through this website the Trust is providing National Curriculum linked lesson plans and resources. These have been trialled in schools and develop pupils’ understanding of what war memorials are, why they are important, and what we can learn from them about the people and conflicts they commemorate.
