Sussex war memorial case studies

Rye war memorial cross, East Sussex © David Ware, 2014Our case studies contain detailed information and photographs about specific war memorials in East and West Sussex.  These memorials have been chosen because of their interesting or unusual designs and for what they can tell us about war memorial issues and historical events.

These case studies can be used with primary or secondary pupils learning about local history or past conflicts or who want to find out more about a memorial.  The information can be used by teachers as background information to inform planning and the accompanying photographs as resources for pupils.

War Memorials Trust has also developed lessons plans which use the memorials in the case studies as examples of war memorial issues.  These can be accessed using the menu on the left and can help young people put their local history in a wider context.
