Bream Primary School, Gloucestershire 2013
War Memorials Trust first visited Bream Primary School in November 2012, and following this the Trust’s Learning Officer was delighted to be contacted again by the staff at the school and to go back for a further visit in 2013. This visit was once again to work with Year 5 and support their learning about Remembrance Day.
Bryn Deri Primary School, Cardiff
Bryn Deri Primary School’s Year 6 pupils started the school year in 2013 by studying Remembrance and the First World War. One of their first lessons involved a visit from War Memorials Trust’s Learning Officer and focused on the school’s local war memorial in Radyr, near Cardiff.
Bream Primary School, Gloucestershire 2012
The pupils at Bream Primary School traditionally visit the local cenotaph around November 11th to pay their respects to the local men and women who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars and to take part in an Act of Remembrance. In November 2012 the Year 5 class had been studying the Second World War and were keen to use the forthcoming commemorations as an opportunity to find out more about the war memorial and those remembered on it.
Grosvenor School, Nottinghamshire
War Memorials Trust’s Learning Officer visited Grosvenor School to teach Year 5 pupils about Remembrance Day, what war memorials are and why war memorials are important to communities.
Haymoor Middle School, Dorset
In February and March 2012, War Memorials Trust’s Learning Officer visited Haymoor Middle School to teach the three Year 6 classes there about war memorials and their continuing importance to the community.
